Waiting to welcome you to the 6th February auction are two Eastern figurines in flowing robes and implements of travel (lots 389 and 390), join them in their journey to the land of promise at Adam Partridge Auctioneers.  Lighting the way; a set of six majestic high altar Victorian Gothic candlesticks in the manner of Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin (lot 582), strike the exquisite 19th century Sanctus bell (lot 247) and our journey begins.

 Stormy DayDutch Woman

Glimmering in the candlelight, Alfred Montague (1832-1883) oils of maritime scenes ‘A Stormy Day’ (lot 461) and ‘Running with the Wind’ (lot 462) sail on with our travellers to the Orient past the Japanese late Meiji/early Taisho period silk tapestry of a lion and lioness (lot 391), on to the beguiling Dutch school portrait of a gentlewoman (lot 475), then the beautiful 19th century selection of samplers (lots 507-514). Close by, linger to admire the collection of 18th and 19th century Continental and English ceramics, then on to the 20th century Della Robbia (lots 275-277) and Carlo Manzoni vases (lots 278-284).

Time to move on! Watches by Heuer Autivia (lot 641), Tiffany (lot 643), Longines (lot 642) and Christian Dior (lot 645), no famine here, just a land of plenty in the form of a shining Victorian diamond bangle (lot 618) and an 18ct gold princess-cut diamond solitaire ring (lot 611) and more!

Highlight in our journey; take time to contemplate the wonderful standalone lot, Dante Gabriel Charles Rossetti (1828-1882) pencil study for ‘Morning Music’ (lot 491).

A pause in the journey, sit in the six c1960s Hove Mobler bentwood and wirework Scandinavian Hans Brattrud designed chairs (lot 37), peruse the folio of David Bailey pin-ups (lot 448) and admire the fine selection of silver, including a Victorian silver punch bowl trophy (lot 583), a large Alhambra-style vase and cover trophy (lot 600) and others. Glance across the room to the stunning 19th century burr walnut bookcase (lot 2) and a large selection of 19th and 20th century furniture.

Finish your journey now with our Eastern gentlemen, surely a visit to a land of promise.

We hope to see you at the auction!
